Proving that I’m not one to always jump on the latest, hottest trend while it’s still hot — I am freely admitting that I just discovered the joys of the “Twilight” movie and books. Squeel!!!
I know, I know, I’m really late to jump on this bandwagon. The books have been hot for several years and the movie came out last year. Also, I’m not exactly in the target demo, teenage girls. But I can’t stop!
Are you with me on this? Anyone? Anyone? Buehler?
I feel like a 13 year-old all over again.
If you haven’t read the books or seen the movie then you probably have no idea what I’m talking about. But if you have, you know exactly what I’m talking about.
How did this happen? Old School was out of town on business last week and I decided to rent a bunch of movies that I knew he would never want to sit through without gouging his eyes out. Movies like “He’s Just Not That Into You” and “The Nanny Diaries.” ”Twilight” was one of them. I watched it twice. The first day. The next chance I had, I ran to a book store to get the first two books, Twilight and New Moon (yes, this is what can happen you have no kids and no job. FYI, I’m working as fast as I can to find a great part-time job and have been searching for a few weeks).
The next day I happened to get a call from my friend Brooke and casually mentioned that I had watched the movie and really enjoyed it. She then admitted she tore through all four Twilight books last year as quickly as she could. She gave the first one to her mom and in no time mom was calling to get the other three. These books are that good, or should I say, that much fun.
Women love a great love story, especially one that features a young woman who needs protecting, and the man of her dreams happens to be the most handsome, strong, educated, wealthy, 108 year-old teenager on the planet. The fact that he’s a vampire makes things wonderfully complicated. Like the fact that they can’t get too physically involved because he may accidently kill her. Uh! So good!
Here’s my suggestion — if you crave a great love story with a LOT of romance and some suspence, reads the books. All four of them. Share with them your teenage daughter, your neice, your mom, your friends. Then see the “Twilight” movie. The casting is brilliant. Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have CHE-MI-STRY.
I’ve got to run now and finish the third book, Eclipse….uh, I mean, uh, I need to go find that part-time job I’ve been looking for.
Don’t forget! The next movie, “New Moon,” comes out on November 20th. It’s already marked on my calendar. Are you joining me? Squeel!

This is awesome. Ok – so, now I know what whammyjuice.com is all about! You guys are great!!
Love the post.
Squeel!
You squeel like a 13 year old, too!
I’m glad to hear that you have your priorities straight… and I may have our next series to read. A co-worker suggested, along the same lines (young adult reading about vampires), the Vampire Academy series. I have the first two books of the series on hold at my local library (got my Library Patron notice this a.m. – I love the Cincinnati Library services). My only beef about the series… they aren’t complete. Will I have to wait to find out what happens with the characters?!?! Has anyone read the Vampire Academy?
