Last Friday was a Chamber of Commerce dream-come-true-day for our Queen City. It was sunny with a high of about 86, not a cloud in the sky as you can see in the photo. I took this from the 16th floor of a new high rise in Northern Kentucky that looks over the Ohio River and downtown Cincinnati. Stunning.
Some friends had invited us over for dinner and a show. The “show” was the Reds game that our friends like to watch from their balcony while looking through binoculars (the stadium is in the center of the photo. It’s almost horseshoe-shaped with the opening facing the river).
Our friends have a perfect view of the huge scoreboard and when something particulary exciting happens, such as a homerun, they can hear the cheers. Not a bad way to spend an evening — good friends, great food, spectacular view, and fireworks. Yep, fireworks!
The city of Cincinnati has decided to do a fireworks show after Friday night home games twice a month throughout the summer.
Not bad for a photo taken at night , from a great distance, using an IPhone.
This went on for twenty minutes. Such a treat! By the way, the Reds played Chicago and lost. They lost the entire three game stand. There was also a major concert happening at the US Bank arena right next to the Reds staduim — Keith Urban and Taylor Swift.
Old School and I played a game while stuck in the pre-game, pre-concert traffic. We tried to guess who was going to which event based on what they were wearing. Probably not a surprise to hear that it was the women who were dressed-well for the concert, and all the guys, looked alike.
